Sooooo yum!!! Got a combo plate of oxtail and jerk chicken, and didn’t look back. It was quite a generous portion. 3 big pieces of oxtail and 1 leg 1 thigh of jerk chicken, together with rice and plantains.
Oxtail was so tender, falling of the bone. Too bad I didn’t eat alone. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be so proper and suck those bone clean!
Jerk chicken was tender and very tasty. Pour all the jerk sauce over, dump all the hot sauce, mix everything with rice. Omgosh, I’m salivating.
Low key, self-serve place. But the food is out of this world.
OMG so good thank you!!! I heard about this restaurant but was hesitant to drive 35-45 mins from my home to try the food. I must say it was worth it. The recommendations did not do this place justice. You must try for your self. I had two combos. Curry goat, jerk chicken and ox-tails. And I can’t forget the pineapple upside down cake. It was moist, warm and delicious
This place is so bomb. The food is SO good! My boyfriend’s sister was visiting and this made the list of things she MUST try before leaving town. The portions are great, the price is decent for the bay area, and that rice…. I dunno what they put in it but it’s as addicting as the jerk chicken/pork. I’ve had the salmon before and that was perfectly spiced and grilled. So. Good.
I was walking along looking for a place to eat and this place stood out in the name alone. So I walk in check it out and it smells so good as soon as you walk in. Its Caribbean bbq and damn is it good. Their jerk chicken is delicous and if you’re a vegetarian they have a plate as well! Very tasty highly recommended it!
I have been searching for good Caribbean food since I relocated to Sacramento from Atlanta, GA a year ago. This place was amazing! My oxtails were cooked to perfection and the jerk chicken and sauce was smoky and excellent. I cannot wait to visit the area again!
I have spent many days in the Caribbean, and this place has as much Caribbean flavor as any place I’ve eaten. Just like in the Islands, the people greet you with the warmth they would treat their family. Teaching you about your options, making suggestions and encouraging you to try their favorites. Goat is not the easiest meat in the world to cook well, but these guys have figured it out. If you’ve never had goat cooked as a delicacy, then you owe it to yourself to get over to Back A Yard and give it a try.
